Tottenham news round-up: Major Gibbs-White update as Frank welcomes new signing

Tottenham’s summer transfer window has kicked into life in recent days.

Daniel Levy has been a busy man at Tottenham over the last week, although it hasn’t all been plain sailing.

It looked as though the Lilywhites were set to welcome Morgan Gibbs-White to North London. However, that deal currently hangs in the balance as Tottenham News brings you the latest from N17.

Inter Milan lead the race for Koni De Winter

Inter Milan are leading Tottenham in the race for Koni De Winter’s signature.

It is understood that Spurs have contacted Genoa, who are willing to accept £22million to part with the Belgian defender. However, while the North London club are still in the race, the Italian club are further along with transfer negotiations.

Having spent the majority of his career in Italy, De Winter could be seduced by a move to Milan. As a result, Tottenham will need to step up their pursuit of the centre-back or risk losing him for good.

Nottingham Forest want to keep Gibbs-White

As reported by Sky Sports’ Rob Dorsett on Tuesday (15 July), Forest have yet to complain to the Premier League about Tottenham’s approach for Gibbs-White, and remain adamant that the midfielder will not be going anywhere.

This will come as a huge blow for Spurs, who could be banking on him to force a move later down the line.

Despite speculation, it is understood that Gibbs-White was present at Forest training on Tuesday.

Kōta Takai issued a work permit

Tottenham recently announced the signing of Kōta Takai from J1 League side Kawasaki Frontale, subject to international clearance and a work permit being issued.

And it now seems that Spurs have finally received a bit of luck after Takai received his work permit on Tuesday (15 July) and was able to begin training at Hotspur Way.

This will come as a huge relief for the defender, who can finally settle in with his teammates and attempt to impress his new manager. Thomas Frank will most likely want to take a close look at him during pre-season before deciding how he fits into his squad.
