Tottenham news round-up: Iraola tipped to replace Postecoglou, Solanke update
Ange Postecoglou is hanging on by a thread after Tottenham were beaten 1-0 by AZ Alkmaar on Thursday.
Spurs’ UEFA Europa League hopes are in the balance after their dismal performance at the AFAS Stadion on 6 March.
As a result, the pressure is on Postecoglou, with Spurs fans calling for the Australian to be sacked after what he did ahead of kick off in the Netherlands.
However, the 59-year-old remains in charge for now. Therefore, he will be hoping to build some momentum with a positive result when his side host Bournemouth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday (9 March).
Here, Tottenham News round up the latest from Friday, 7 March.

Jamie O’Hara blasts Son Heung-min
Jamie O’Hara was left fuming with Son Heung-min after Spurs’ defeat against AZ Alkmaar.
While speaking on talkSPORT (6 March), O’Hara said, “There have been three performances this season which are absolutely embarrassing in my opinion.
“The three biggest games, Aston Villa in the FA Cup, rubbish, Liverpool Carabao Cup second leg, get beat four-nil, embarrassing.
Tottenham v AZ Alkmaar | Goals | Shots | Shots on target |
Son Heung-min | 0 | 3 | 0 |
“Tonight, you go to AZ Alkmaar, who by the way are a bang average side in Holland, and we put in a dismal performance with a lack of quality, a lack of desire, a lack of fight, a lack of quality, and it’s the same old story.
“Son, come on mate, step up to the plate.”
Andoni Iraola tipped to replace Postecoglou at Tottenham
With Postecoglou under pressure, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has been linked with the Spurs job.
And Troy Deeney has urged the 42-year-old to consider the role if it becomes available to him.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (7 March, 10:27 am), the ex-Watford striker said, “I would go to Tottenham if I was Iraola.
“No disrespect to Bournemouth for what they’ve done, but Spurs are just a bigger club. Unfortunately, Bournemouth can’t get to that without changing the stadium.
“And if they’re building a stadium, [Iraola] might be gone over that course of time.”
Postecoglou provides Dominic Solanke injury update at Tottenham
Solanke returned from injury off the bench against AZ Alkmaar.
However, the striker couldn’t complete the game, picking up a knock in the closing moments, much to the concern of Spurs supporters.
Speaking ahead of the clash with Bournemouth on Friday (7 March), Postecoglou said, “With Dom, obviously it’s a knee going into the backside so a bit sore but it’s a knock so hopefully he’ll be back pretty quickly.”
