Tottenham round-up: Son transfer shock, Spurs insider brings up Marco Silva
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou remains under pressure after Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Fulham left his side just 14th in the Premier League table heading into the international break.
Postecoglou chose to leave star players James Maddison, Heung-Min Son, and Micky Van de Ven on the bench during Tottenham’s latest defeat, which prompted scrutiny from ex-England ace Wayne Rooney.
Despite their domestic woes, Spurs successfully navigated their way through to the Europa League knock-out stages via a 3-1 win over Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar last Thursday.
Postecoglou and Co are next in action on Thursday 3 April when they take on London rivals Chelsea in a Premier League encounter.
Here, Tottenham News round-up all the latest from Wednesday 19 March:

Son tipped to join Championship club in surprise Tottenham exit
It would be fair to say that South Korea international Heung-Min Son, who has been one of Spurs’ best players since joining the club back in 2015, is enduring an underwhelming campaign.

Appearances | 26 |
Goals | 7 |
Former Brentford boss Martin Allen exclusively told Tottenham News: “He’s been a fantastic player for them over the years. In all honesty, it looks like the pace he once had is on the way out, it’s nowhere near where it once was.
“It’s going to be difficult to get him a place in the team where he’s going to play games and score goals.
“It wouldn’t be a surprise to me if Spurs start to work out how they can move him on.
“Where would he go? One of the clubs coming up from the Championship would take him like a shot because he has still got something in him.“

Paul Robinson outlines what Postecoglou must do to retain Spurs job
Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has weighed in on the debate surrounding Postecoglou, and exclusively told Tottenham News: “I think there’s only one way he keeps his job now, and it’s winning the Europa League. I think if he wins the Europa League, he will keep his job next year. I think if he doesn’t, yes, you look at the injuries they’ve had this year, but they’ve got players back now. They’ve had players back for a long time.
“That [Fulham] result in isolation in a good season is not a bad result, because Fulham are a good team, especially at home. But you put that result into a pile of other results, and the way that the team have played, it’s not been good enough this season. Look, they’re sat 14th in the Premier League.
“I think you struggle to sack a manager if he wins that. I mean, yes, on the grander scale of things, you look at the other cup competitions. You look at the Premier League. If you win the Europa League, excuses and players’ injuries become accepted all of a sudden, because you go, yeah, it’s not been a great season. We’ve had injuries. We’ve not had the team that we wanted. We’ve not played great at times.
“If he wins the Europa League, he starts next season as the manager, without a doubt, and then it’s a huge season for him next year. Like I said, I think the only way he can keep his job is by winning that.“

Marco Silva’s credentials to replace Postecoglou questioned
Fulham’s Marco Silva and Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola have both emerged as potential candidates to replace Postecoglou if the current Spurs boss loses his job.
But Tottenham insider Paul O Keefe has questioned Silva’s credentials and wrote on X: “On Silva are people just happy to ignore he left Everton in 18th place having manoeuvred his way to a sacking so he could take the job at Everton in the first place.
“Surprised he has such credence.”
Last weekend, though, it was Silva’s Fulham who got the better of Spurs, and remain firmly in the hunt for a European spot.
