Tottenham have clear Gibbs-White run after Man City update

This is welcome news to the North London outfit, although there are several hoops to jump through before a deal can be struck.

Before the 2024/25 season had even finished, there was talk of Man City making a move for Nottingham Forest’s captain.

However, as the summer has developed, it is the Lilywhites who have been pursuing the 25-year-old, although there have been several snags.

While Spurs thought they had triggered Gibbs-White’s release clause, Forest have since reported them to the Premier League for an illegal approach.

Rodrygo linked with sensational Spurs transfer

The Real Madrid man faces an uncertain future in Spain amid the attacking options Xabi Alonso has at his disposal.

Furthermore, the Brazilian international was an unused substitute during Los Blancos’ 3-0 defeat to PSG in the FIFA Club World Cup.

While the forward has been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, nothing has developed on that front.

Now, Tottenham are said to be interested in Rodrygo, while Bayern Munich and Chelsea are also reportedly keen.

The 24-year-old would be some acquisition for whichever club could land him, but Real would command a hefty fee.

On current evidence, Spurs are nowhere near done in the transfer market and are eyeing real talent.

However, it remains to be seen whether they can strike deals that will push them towards the top four.
