Tottenham news round-up: Fabrizio Romano sends Lucas Bergvall message, Simon Jordan makes Ange Postecoglou claim

Tottenham continues to make headlines following an eventful few days in North London.

Thomas Frank has had almost a perfect start to life in North London. After a victory over West Ham in the Premier League, Tottenham stood firm against Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League to earn their first win.

Spurs’ sporting success hasn’t been without its lows, but there’s been an overwhelming number of highs as Tottenham News rounds up the latest from Hotspur Way.

Fabrizio Romano praises Lucas Begvall after Tottenham win

Lucas Bergvall delivered an unforgettable performance against West Ham, which he followed up in the Champions League.

There were several criticisms of Frank’s side following Spurs’ 1-0 win over Villarreal. But Bergvall was not one of them.

Bergvall took to Instagram on 17 September to express his joy: “A dream come true. First Champions League game, at home in front of you and a win. Something I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid.”

The football world came together to praise the midfielder after the game, including Fabrizio Romano who sent a message to Tottenham’s Bergvall.

Romano, who is clearly a fan of Bergvall, replied: “Baller.”

Guglielmo Vicario pleased after Tottenham victory

Guglielmo Vicario had little to do in Tottenham’s opening Champions League victory over Villarreal.

The Spanish side failed to register a shot on target throughout the game, resulting in the keeper making a single pass.

But after a well-earned win, Vicario issued a positive message to Tottenham fans on the North London club’s X account.

“Hello, guys, another clean sheet. I’m very happy. Big, massive start to this Champions League campaign,” he said on 17 September.

“Let’s keep this going together, and come on, you Spurs, let’s go.”

Simon Jordan makes Ange Postecoglou argument to Danny Murphy

Ange Postecoglou has gotten off to a troubled start since he left Tottenham during the summer.

The Australian replaced Nuno Espirito Santo at Nottingham Forest soon after, but his first game in charge ended in a humiliating 3-0 defeat against Arsenal.

In comparison, Frank has had a dream start to life in North London, having conceded one goal in all competitions.

Danny Murphy praised Spurs while appearing on talkSPORT via YouTube on 17 September before Simon Jordan stopped him in his tracks.

Murphy said: “Right now, he’s [Frank] fixed the problem of what they had and actually some boring wins, I’m sure Tottenham fans are happy with at the moment…”

Jordan replied: “You want to compare and contrast, look at how they started the season last year.”

“Look at the start to the season last year. Their first eight games, they conceded four goals. They beat teams 3-0, 1-0, 4-0..

“Their first Europa League game was against Qarabag, they beat them 3-0. They beat Man United 3-0, they beat Brentford 3-1, they beat Arsenal 1-0. They lost to Newcastle, and they beat Everton 4-0.

“So what are we talking about when comparing and contrasting what Thomas Frank’s doing. Same situation, except the wheels came off with Ange after the Brighton game.”
