Rodrigo Bentancur steps up Tottenham return with superb goal in training
Rodrigo Bentancur stepped up his recovery from a long-term lay-off by scoring a superb strike in Tottenham training on Wednesday (26 October).
Spurs posted footage of the goal on their official Twitter account (26 October), with the likes of Emerson Royal and Alejo Veliz left in disbelief.
Bentancur has not played since suffering anterior cruciate ligament damage to his left knee during a 4-1 defeat to Leicester City on 11 February.
According to The Metro (25 October), while the Argentina international is back in training, Ange Postecoglou will not risk rushing him back.
Former Spurs right-back Alan Hutton told Tottenham News:
“Will he slot straight back in? I don’t think so, not at this moment in time,” Hutton said.
“I think he gives them another option, another very experienced option, but I think obviously the likes of [Pape Matar] Sarr and [Yves] Bissouma at this moment in time are playing very well.
“They complement each other and they work really hard for the team. As long as they’re fit and playing to the standard they are at this moment in time, I think it’s going to be hard to dislodge them from there.

“That being said, I think when you are top four or you want to challenge you need these guys coming back in and challenging the players that are in the starting eleven.
“I think it’s only going to be good for them moving forward. One, you get the best out of the players that are playing; two, the manager gets a real strong, healthy squad.”
In other Tottenham news, Andy Townsend raved about the performance of one Spurs player in particular against Fulham.
