Tottenham new manager latest: New favourite installed as odds slashed

Tottenham have seen a new favourite emerge in the race to replace Ange Postecoglou at the end of the season.

The Australian is coming under increasing pressure in North London, with importance being piled on the Europa League for success.

With a two-legged semi-final clash against Bodo/Glimt coming up in May, there is likely to be internal conversations being held over the head coach role in N17.

With that in mind, a new favourite to replace Postecoglou has been named in North London despite there being at least seven games remaining of the campaign.

Postecoglou replacement favourite mooted at Tottenham

There is no doubt that the 59-year-old has had a difficult year in the capital, as things have continuously gone against him.

This has seen injuries to key players like Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero take their toll as his squad was left to its bare bones at times.

As a result, it is little surprise to see the Lilywhites sitting as low as 16th in the Premier League while the head coach’s future is in serious jeopardy.

This has seen an exit be mooted for Postecoglou regardless of his side’s performance in the Europa League.

With that in mind, Mauricio Pochettino has been named as the favourite to become Spurs boss as odds have shortened to 11/4 according to Odds Checker (24 April).

This sees the former N17 boss rank ahead of the likes of Thomas Frank, Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola, with the Spaniard coming in at 5/1.

More outside shots include the likes of Erik ten Hag, Brendan Rodgers and Scott Parker also being linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Pochettino favourite to be Tottenham manager

There is no doubt that the Argentine would be a well-received option to replace the former Celtic boss ahead of the new campaign.

The current USA manager would have to depart his role with the Stars and Stripes, but may be willing to do so for a return to the Premier League and North London.

Pochettino already has a positive relationship with Daniel Levy and as a result, could prove to be an ideal alternative in the dugout.

It would be interesting to see what sort of difference he could make if the ex-PSG boss were to replace Postecoglou as head coach.
