Rio Kyerematen signs new Spurs contract

Lilywhite Rose claimed back in May that Rio Kyerematen has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal at Spurs.

Kyerematen’s contract was set to expire on 30 June, so if he had not signed a new contract, he would not have been mentioned on the list.

The 19-year-old could be loaned out next season, which will be the first time for him as he gets ready for first-team football.

He is also capable of playing as a full-back.

Tottenham fans should be excited by Kyerematen’s potential

The teenager is a rising star in Tottenham’s academy, generating buzz among fans for his immense potential to become a first-team player.

Since joining Spurs at age eight, Kyerematen has progressed through the youth ranks, showcasing versatility, technical ability and a knack for crucial goals.

His standout performances include a brace in the 2023 Under-18 Premier League Cup final, securing a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa and a thunderbolt strike voted Tottenham’s November 2023 Goal of the Month.

With 23 appearances, seven goals, and four assists in the Under-18 Premier League, plus recent experience at left-back for the Under-21s, his adaptability is evident.

An England U-17 international, Kyerematen’s composure and modern midfield play style draw comparisons to dynamic Premier League stars.

Tottenham fans should be excited because his work rate, goal-scoring instinct and positional flexibility align with the high-pressing system seen at the first team in recent seasons.

Continued development could see him debut in the next year or two, potentially filling midfield or full-back roles, making him a homegrown talent to watch.

His trajectory suggests he could become a first-team player in a few years, thrilling supporters with his journey from academy to first-team stardom.
