Tottenham midfielder out for months as injury return date emerges
Tottenham secured a vital victory over Bodø/Glimt in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League semi-final clash, but they have been dealt an injury blow.
Ange Postecoglou’s side will head to Norway with a two-goal advantage after a 3-1 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (1 May), in which James Maddison scored during a fine individual display.
However, the night would end on a sour note for the Englishman as he limped off with a suspected injury in the 65th minute.
And Postecoglou has now shared an update on Maddison as well as several other injured Spurs stars.

Lucas Bergvall suffers long-term injury
Bergvall was absent from the squad on Thursday with an ankle injury.
Postecoglou shared an update on the 19-year-old in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Premier League clash with West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday (4 May).
| Fixture | Date | Venue | Result |
| Tottenham v Bodø/Glimt | 1 May | Tottenham Hotspur Stadium | 3-1 |
| Bodø/Glimt v Tottenham | 8 May | Aspmyra Stadion | N/A |
The Australian confirmed that the 19-year-old would miss the remainder of the season, while Maddison was set to undergo scans with Dominic Solanke a doubt for the clash with the Hammers.
And according to Fotbolldirekt (2 May), Bergvall will be sidelined for at least eight weeks, meaning he will be ready for next season.
This means the teenager will miss the Europa League final in Bilbao if Spurs make it there.
Bergvall has had a promising first season at Tottenham
Bergvall has been a positive in a mostly miserable campaign for Spurs, with the midfielder impressing since his move from Djurgårdens in the summer.
The teenager has been inconsistent at times. However, his full talent and potential are already clear, and he could develop into a starter for years to come. Missing the final games of the campaign will be a blow for Bergvall, but he will now be afforded a proper recovery period and rest to be fit again in time for pre-season.
His injury now means that the Europa League starting lineups are likely to include Yves Bissouma, who started on Thursday in Bergvall’s absence.
With Maddison’s injury status still uncertain, Spurs may have lost two key players in the same position at the same time. However, there will be hope that the Englishman is available for the trip to Norway.
