Tottenham, Man United final Premier League positions predicted by supercomputer

Tottenham picked up a hugely valuable Premier League win against Manchester United at the weekend to ease the pressure on Ange Postecoglou.

After exiting the EFL Cup and FA Cup in quick succession, James Maddison’s first-half strike gave Tottenham a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Man United in North London.

The win moves Tottenham up to 12th in the Premier League, now one point and three places above Manchester United in 15th.

Postecoglou, who has seen plenty of questions raised over his future as Tottenham manager, will therefore be breathing a little easier today.

Indeed, it is now Ruben Amorim who is under fire at Manchester United on the back of another pretty terrible performance.

Where are Tottenham predicted to finish in Premier League?

Tottenham are currently 13 points off the top five, which will likely be enough to land a Champions League spot, and they are 13 points above the relegation zone.

There is just as much chance of the Lilywhites being relegated, then, than there is of them competing in UEFA’s primary club competition in 2025-26.

And according to Opta Analyst‘s updated predicted Premier League table [17 February], Spurs are forecast to finish exactly where they currently are in 12th.

They are said to have a 0.1 per cent chance of finishing in the top five – basically no chance at all, then – while there is a zero per cent chance of them being relegated.

Effectively, the supercomputer has predicted that this campaign will effectively peter out with Spurs staying in mid-table.

Where will Manchester United finish this season?

For what it’s worth, Manchester United are predicted to finish in 14th place with around 47 points – two fewer than Tottenham.

That would of course be a historically bad finish for the Red Devils, although relegation is not a serious worry.

Tottenham fans will hope the calculations are off and that competing for a European berth – even the Conference League – is a possibility.

But on the basis of an underwhelming campaign thus far, it is hard to argue against anything that a bottom-half finish.
