Tottenham hold ‘advanced talks to hire’ Inzaghi as Inter Milan exit decision made

Tottenham have held advanced talks with Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi.

The Italian failed to lead Inter to Champions League glory, and his future with the Nerazzurri is now in doubt.

As for Ange Postecoglou, he is treading on thin ice at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following a woeful Premier League campaign.

As Daniel Levy considers Postecoglou’s future, there have been some intriguing reports on his potential successor.

Tottenham discuss Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi

Postecoglou may have guided Tottenham to Europa League glory, but that has not stopped rumours of his exit.

The former Celtic boss led Spurs to a historic 1-0 win over Manchester United to end their 17-year trophy drought.

However, that triumph has been overshadowed by the Lilywhites’ dreadful league form, with the North London club finishing 17th.

Indeed, it seems that the Tottenham hierarchy have been planning for life after Ange for some time amid fresh reports.

Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri told talkSPORT (31 May) that Spurs and Newcastle United held talks with Inzaghi earlier in the season.

He says that the 49-year-old advanced contacts with the Premier League duo, but that his priority was to remain at Inter.

While he thinks that Newcastle’s interest would have cooled following a successful season under Eddie Howe, Tottenham may still be on the lookout.

Inzaghi has been offered big money to move to Saudi Arabia, but could be lured by the attractive proposition of the Premier League.

Spurs face controversial Ange Postecoglou decision

Tottenham supporters are split over whether Postecoglou should remain in North London for next season.

Yes, he delivered a first trophy since 2008, but it is impossible to ignore his side’s glaring failings in the Premier League.

The situation is reminiscent of Man United and Erik ten Hag when the Red Devils kept the Dutchman on after winning the FA Cup.

Most believed he would be given the boot, but instead, he was handed a fresh deal only to be fired months later.

Of course, it is unlikely that Postecoglou will be handed a new contract, but there is every chance he could remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

News of Inzaghi talks is intriguing because he must be regarded as a success in Italy.

Inzaghi has lost two Champions League finals, but did guide Inter to the Serie A title in 2023/24.

Whatever Tottenham decide to do is likely to cause a stir, with Postecoglou’s job well and truly on the line.
