Tottenham hero in line to replace Ruben Amorim after Man United resignation shock

Ruben Amorim looks like he will quit Manchester United after the Europa League final against Tottenham next week.

Man United’s season has matched Tottenham’s for how bad it’s been, with the two big-six clubs sitting in 16th and 17th place respectively in the Premier League with two games left to play.

However, both have the opportunity to end their dreadful campaigns on a high when they meet in Bilbao next Wednesday (21 May) for the Europa League final.

Winning the competition and qualifying for the 2025/26 Champions League might not be enough for Ange Postecoglou and Amorim to keep their jobs, with news emerging from all angles about potential sackings and resignations.

Amorim has ‘all but resigned’ from Man United ahead of Tottenham final

Amorim has had a testing debut season at Manchester United – and it could be about to get a lot worse.

The Mirror reports that co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and chief executive Omar Berrada will review Amorim’s position at the end of the season, even if they beat Tottenham in Bilbao next week.

Former Sky Sports anchor Richard Keys has since claimed on his blog that the 40-year-old Portuguese coach has “all but resigned” after the Red Devils lost to West Ham on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino in running for Man United and Tottenham jobs

Man United fans will want to know who could potentially replace Amorim in charge at Old Trafford if Ratcliffe and co were to pull the trigger on the ex-Sporting CP boss.

Bet Victor have priced Massimiliano Allegri as the early 4/1 favourite at this stage, with impressive Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner next in the list at 6/1.

Tottenham hero Mauricio Pochettino is the third-favourite with the bookmakers listing him at 8/1 to succeed Amorim as the Manchester United manager.

Kieran McKenna and Garth Southgate (both 10/1) are also among the top five contenders.

Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham is also in major doubt.

Pochettino is currently the 11/4 favourite to be the next Spurs manager with Bet Victor.

Xavi Hernandez (7/2), McKenna (5/1) and Marco Silva (6/1) are also in contention to replace Postecoglou, who’ll be aiming to win Tottenham’s first piece of silverware since 2008 when they face Man United in the Europa League final.
