Tottenham have chance to repeat impressive feat not seen since Jose Mourinho in clash vs Brighton
Tottenham are aiming to continue their bright start to the season away at Brighton on Saturday.
The N17 outfit have been beaten in each of their last two trips to the Amex Stadium in the Premier League, but they will be hoping to put that right this weekend.
Spurs have made an excellent start to Thomas Frank’s reign, and that has seen them record wins and clean sheets from three of their opening four league outings.
With that in mind, they now find themselves in a position where they could achieve something for the first time since Jose Mourinho’s reign when they head to the South Coast this weekend.

Tottenham targeting third successive Premier League away win
Mourinho’s time at Tottenham delivered mixed results in terms of success on the pitch.
The Portuguese had the Lilywhites top of the Premier League table by December in his second season in charge, only for him to lose his job in the second half of the campaign after his team faded away.
Regardless of the frustrating ending to his time in North London, the 62-year-old brought plenty of positives to Spurs, and they now have an opportunity to match a feat that has passed them by all too often since his departure.
- Mourinho’s 2020 run included a 6-1 win at Old Trafford and a 5-2 victory at Southampton
- Spurs are yet to concede a goal away from home this season
- They take on Brighton and Leeds in their next two games away from N17
After victories at Manchester City and West Ham in their last two away games in the league, Frank’s men now have the chance to extend that winning run on the road to three matches at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.
Incredibly, Spurs have not won three consecutive away games in the Premier League since November 2020 (according to BBC Sport), when Mourinho led them to a fourth consecutive victory on the road away at West Brom.
That was part of a six-match unbeaten run away from home, and Frank’s side are already well on their way to replicating that.

Strong away record could be a game-changer for Spurs
Tottenham’s defensive solidity under Frank is an extremely positive sign so far, and their success on their travels is something that could be a potential game-changer for them if it continues throughout the season.
The Lilywhites have only finished in the top five of the away league table in one of the last three seasons, and it coincided with their fifth-place finish under Ange Postecoglou in 2023/24 – their strongest finish across those three campaigns.
If they can achieve a similarly strong record on the road this season, then it could hold the key to them getting back into contention at the top end of the table.
