Tottenham fined by FA after Man Utd controversy as official statement released
Tottenham have been fined by The Football Association after an incident in one of their four meetings with Manchester United last season.
Tottenham came out victorious in all four of these meetings with United, famously beating the Red Devils 1-0 in the UEFA Europa League final in Bilbao (21 May).
As a result of this victory, the Lilywhites ended a 17-year trophy drought in North London.
However, an incident in one of their encounters with United has come back to haunt Tottenham after an official statement from The FA.

Tottenham sanctioned for crowd misconduct v Manchester United
Tottenham were charged by the Football Association over alleged homophobic chanting by their fans during a 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on 29 September 2024.
It was said that the chanting took place in the 49th and 79th minutes of the Premier League away fixture.
The FA have now fined Tottenham over the incident. It has been claimed that the North London club failed to ensure their fans behaved respectfully.
In a statement on Thursday (19 June), The FA wrote, “Tottenham Hotspur FC has been fined £75,000 for two breaches of FA Rule E21 in relation to crowd control misconduct at its Premier League match against Manchester United FC on Sunday 29 September 2024.
“Tottenham Hotspur FC admitted both charges, and an independent Regulatory Commission imposed an action plan, £150,000 fine and warning. An independent Appeal Board reduced the fine to £75,000 following an appeal by the club.”
Tottenham must continue to uphold high standards
Spurs have always been a club that has stood for inclusion in football and will no doubt want to uphold these standards.
There is no doubt that the Lilywhites will take the verdict seriously and continue their work towards creating a safe environment in football.
Now, Tottenham will look towards having a successful summer transfer window and starting the season on the right foot.
The victory against Man United in the Europa League means Tottenham will play UEFA Champions League football next season. As a result, Spurs will be looking to provide new Head Coach Thomas Frank with reinforcements.
The North London club have already set several players in their sights, including Jarrad Branthwaite as an option to replace Cristian Romero if the defender leaves for Atletico Madrid.
But Tottenham will need to pick up the pace if they want to compete on all fronts next season.
