Tottenham favourite sabotages Mikel Arteta office after new Arsenal event

David Bentley is one of a select few players to feature for both Tottenham and Arsenal, and his allegiance could not be clearer.

Bentley came through the youth academy at North London rivals Arsenal in the early 2000s, and scored one goal in nine games for them before joining Blackburn Rovers.

After three seasons, Bentley moved back to North London, but on the other side as he joined Tottenham, much to the anger of Arsenal fans.

Now 40 and retired, Bentley has been spotted riling up Arsenal again, in the most surprising way possible.

Bentley sneaks into Mikel Arteta’s office at Arsenal

Footage has now emerged of Bentley at Arsenal’s training ground following a charity event, celebrating Tottenham’s Europa League victory in style.

Bentley was wearing an old Tottenham kit, with “winners 2025” handwritten on the back, and was filmed entering Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s office.

“I love this man, because you know what he’s done for me? He’s left us a beer,” Bentley stated of Arteta as he headed into his office.

The former winger then pulled two beers from Arteta’s fridge, before thanking the Spaniard.

“Thank you, Mr Arteta, thank you very much,” Bentley added.

Bentley’s North London derby moment

Although he retired from football earlier than expected, Bentley made a positive contribution at Tottenham, not least because of one goal against Arsenal in a famous North London derby.

Tottenham found themselves 4-2 down at the Emirates Stadium in 2008, but Bentley, appearing against his former club, scored a rocket from distance to open the scoring.

Spurs then remarkably came back to draw 4-4 in the dying moments as Aaron Lennon scored, securing a historic moment when all appeared to be lost.

Bentley was an unused substitute as Tottenham recorded their only Premier League win at the Emirates in 2010, but he did help knock them out of the FA Cup after he returned to Blackburn in 2012.

This game saw him come up against Arteta on the pitch, and Bentley may feel he has had the last laugh again over 12 years later.

Now, Bentley will find himself a popular figure among Spurs fans again, but Arteta may not be too pleased that the seven-time England international found himself in his office following the conclusion of the season.
