Tottenham fans will be shocked as Richarlison tops impressive Premier League stat

Richarlison enjoyed an excellent start to the new Premier League season with a brace for Tottenham on the opening day.

The Brazilian has been linked with an exit from N17 since the start of the summer, but he helped his side to an opening day win over Burnley with two goals, including a stunning scissor kick.

Richarlison has received plenty of praise for his role in Tottenham’s win, and he has already proven his worth to Thomas Frank just weeks into his reign.

The new boss will have been keen to assess all the options available to him, and the frontman certainly appears to have done his chances no harm at all.

Richarlison’s minutes-per-goal ratio for Tottenham is excellent

Richarlison has contributed little during his time at Spurs so far, but with Dominic Solanke out injured to start the new season, he has seized his opportunity with both hands.

His display against PSG was typical of what fans have come to expect, with plenty of hard work and endeavour but little to show for his efforts.

However, against Burnley, the former Everton star added the touch of quality that has so often been lacking during his three-year spell in North London.

Richarlison has already matched 50 per cent of his league goals tally from last season with his brace on the opening day, and it saw him continue a run of form that will surprise many Spurs fans.

The 28-year-old now has the best minutes-per-goal ratio of any player to have featured across the last two Premier League seasons, according to BBC Sport’s match centre ahead of the upcoming Manchester City clash.

He is currently averaging a goal in every 95 minutes of football, and also has an impressively high 27.3% conversion rate.

Richarlison deserves to keep his place ahead of Dominic Solanke

Frank’s arrival may have handed Richarlison the lifeline that he needed at Tottenham.

The appointment of a new manager is always likely to bring a shake-up within the squad, and the striker could be about to benefit from that.

Richarlison’s 2024/25 Premier League stats compared to Solanke’s, as per FBref.

He has already gained a head start on Solanke in the early stages of the new campaign, and actually matches up well statistically with the former Bournemouth hit man.

The Englishman will still play a role when he returns to full fitness, but Richarlison has done enough to ensure he keeps the shirt for the time being at least.

His time with Spurs has been frustrating so far, but he could finally be about to show the consistency that the Lilywhites thought they were getting when they signed him.
