‘Tottenham fans don’t want to be reading this, it could be a disaster’ – Ray Parlour
Tottenham fans have experienced a rough season so far.
Thomas Frank is under intense pressure at Spurs as his side have been eliminated from both domestic cups, and they sit 14th in the Premier League table.
Chairman Joe Lewis has been under pressure to sell Tottenham, with fans furious at how the club has been run over the past decade.
The supporters have had enough of Frank’s style of play as it’s clearly not paying off, but Ray Parlour predicts that their biggest worries could be realised in the summer as speculation begins over the exit of one of their most important players.
Tottenham fans won’t be pleased hearing Micky van de Ven exit news
Micky van de Ven is Tottenham’s most valuable asset, but reports linking him with Liverpool will undoubtedly anger Spurs fans.
Van de Ven wants to leave Tottenham because they aren’t performing well under Frank, and Liverpool are among the clubs that could line up a world-record £ 100million bid.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 23 January, Parlour said he believes it would be terrible for the Spurs supporters if the 24-year-old is allowed to leave in the summer.
He said: “They’re basically saying we don’t want to lose him [with that price tag. I’m not sure what sort of contract he has left – two or three years – but it’d be a disaster for Spurs because he’s been brilliant at the back.
| Stat | Van de Ven |
| Appearances | 80 |

“He and [Cristian] Romero are a good partnership at the back. Tottenham fans don’t want to be reading this, wondering if it’ll happen.”
As reported by Sky Sports, Spurs have no intention of selling Van de Ven, who still has over three years left on his contract in North London.
However, Tottenham would struggle to say no to such an astronomical fee, and Spurs fans will be furious if he does go to a Premier League rival.

The Dutch defender’s blistering pace has single-handedly saved Spurs in certain matches, and finding a replacement for him will be near impossible.
Cristian Romero’s potential exit would be an absolute catastrophe
If Van de Ven leaves, Spurs fans will think that as long as they have Cristian Romero, the future remains optimistic.
However, Romero has also expressed his desire to leave Tottenham, and the captain will push to leave N17 if things don’t improve quickly.
Spanish media outlet Fichajes reported on 11 January that Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to offer around £69.4million (€80m) to sign the 27-year-old.
His talent is undeniable, and his aerial threat has proved itself to be a huge weapon for Spurs this season.
Tottenham can’t afford to lose both in one summer window, and Frank needs a drastic upturn in form to convince both centre-backs to stay.
