Tottenham fans all say the same thing after official Dele Alli news

Tottenham Hotspur supporters have rallied behind Dele Alli as their former midfielder continues his path back to football.

Dele has been through the wringer (and then some) since leaving the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January 2022, with injuries hampering his time at Everton and ill-fated loan spell at Besiktas in 2023.

That season-long loan move to the Turkish SuperLig proved to be a pivotal period in Dele’s career, suffering a hip injury which has prevented him from playing a single first-team minute in over two years.

After his Everton contract finally expired last summer, Dele continued training with both the Toffees and now Como 1907 in Italy, and after signing a short-term deal, he is preparing to take the biggest step yet.

Dele Alli named in Como squad ahead of first-team return

Having not played a minute at the top level since all the way back in February 2023, Dele has been named as part of Como’s 25-player squad to take on Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

Although only 11 Como players can start the match and a maximum of five appear off the bench against a side sat four places above them in Serie A, this could be the day Dele makes his long-awaited return.

The last time Dele played in a competitive match, Antonio Conte was Spurs’ manager and Como were mid-table in Serie B; and an appearance against Roma will complete a two-year battle back to fitness.

Tottenham fans react to Dele Alli development – ‘so good’

News that Dele could be making his return for Como has been met with unanimous positive responses from Tottenham fans, with everyone of a White Hart Lane persuasion delighted to see him back.

After Como posted their 25-man squad on X, one Spurs fan responded with two ‘love heart’ emojis, while another said they had “nothing but respect” for the 28-year-old with game-time on the cards.

That same supporter urged Dele to “show them the player you are”, hopeful that the midfielder’s return to first-team football after such a lengthy period out would spark a return to his early-career form.

Further responses from Tottenham fans displayed their glee at Dele being involved at the highest level once again; one saying it’s “so good” to see him in Como’s team and that all Spurs fans will be watching.

More messages of support followed, with Dele wished “all the best” by another Spurs fan and one more adding that they “really hope he can get back to playing regularly” for the newly-promoted Serie A side.

Spurs fans’ love for the midfielder shone through in further response, with one reworking the “We’ve got Dele Alli…” chant and another adding that due to having Dele in their team, they’re now Como’s “biggest fan”.
