Tottenham exit was set in stone, Ange Postecoglou ‘did not choose him’
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is unlikely to be phased by the latest exit from North London.
The Australian head coach has been strongly linked with a departure from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after the season’s end date.
With that being said, a number of other moves have been confirmed in N17, while the 59-year-old has, so far, maintained his role in the dugout.
It now appears that one of these confirmed exits was always bound to happen, ever since Postecoglou came in from Celtic.

Tottenham exit unsurprising for Postecoglou
This week kicked off with the shock departure of Donna Cullen after stepping down from her role after 30 years with the Lilywhites.
After a sizable spell alongside Daniel Levy, it did appear that this change could prompt further alterations in the coming days or weeks.
What followed was the departure of Ryan Mason, who has completed a move to West Brom to kickstart his career as a head coach.
This brings to an end a seven-year association with Spurs after coming in as a coach in 2018 after his early retirement at Hull City.
Role | Year |
Coach | 2018 |
U19s academy coach | 2019-2020 |
Head of player development | 2020-2021 |
Interim head coach | 2021 |
Coach | 2021-2023 |
Interim head coach | 2023 |
Coach | 2023-2025 |
Although this may come across as a blow to the North London outfit to some, Simon Jordan believes this was always going to happen.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (3 June, 10:40am), the ex-Crystal Palace owner shared his opinion that Postecoglou never truly wanted him, utilising the Englishman because he was already in N17.
He said: “Ryan Mason wasn’t part of Ange Postecoglou’s coaching staff because Ange Postecoglou chose him. He was there in situ, and Ange Postecoglou incorporated him.
“I would suspect his ambitions have always lent themselves to an opportunity as a first-team manager. I think he has said it himself in previous situations when he stood in for the interim, he has talked about wanting to be a manager.”

Mason departure confirmed at West Brom
It appears that the 33-year-old was always going to move on at some stage under the reign of Postecoglou at Spurs.
This has arguably happened at the most turbulent period as the Aussie boss awaits a decision from Levy over his future ahead of the new season.
There is every chance that with Mason at West Brom, someone like Thomas Frank could take the role at Tottenham if the sack option is taken up.
With nothing set in stone in North London for Postecoglou, what is certain is that the ex-midfielder will be leading out the Baggies in the Championship next season.
