Tottenham developments called ‘Laughable’ as Daniel Levy speaks out

Tottenham have had a disastrous season and sit 14th in the Premier League table with only the Europa League left to play for.

There have been plenty of grumbles from supporters at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the blame has been shifted around for their poor season.

Ange Postecoglou is under immense pressure, but Daniel Levy has also been subject to plenty of criticism for his failure to support the Australian.

Levy running out of time at Tottenham

The failure of this season specifically probably falls into the lap of multiple people, but supporters are running out of patience with Levy.

The chairman has been constantly accused of not putting enough money into the squad, which, in turn, has made things harder for Postecoglou to manage.

Tottenham have had a poor season.

While there has been talk of investment from elsewhere at moments in the campaign, supporters are even doubtful of that, with suggestions that these rumours are part of a set-up by the owner himself.

Levy has now responded to the criticism he has received in North London, and he has highlighted the importance of keeping Tottenham sustainable rather than spending money they don’t have.

Ally McCoist has hit out at Levy, though, saying live on talkSPORT (1 April, 7:36 am): “Look, something’s got to give somewhere. You’ve got to run a tight ship and an organised business, and that’s exactly what’s happening, without doubt.

“However, it’s quite simple. Spurs fans want to win something, they’ve got to win something. It’s actually becoming laughable at this moment in time.”

Tottenham fans fed up with Levy

Levy was keen to point out to supporters that he has Tottenham in a sustainable position, although no one has questioned this, and he deserves plenty of respect for that.

The problem is though, there is seemingly no money available from the top end to put into the squad to improve things which could then return success.

The move to a new stadium was meant to increase the revenue streams and although there are countless new events being announced, it still doesn’t seem to be producing anything extra for on the pitch matters.

With the Europa League still on the table this term, it is essential that the Lilywhites win the competition for both revenue purposes as well as bringing the trophy that supporters are longing for.

Whether that trophy would be enough to save Postecoglou at this stage is yet to be seen, but it does feel like sacking another manager without changing anything about how the club is run could be a fairly redundant move.
