Tottenham decline to comment on Jurgen Klopp demand for Liverpool replay – Sky Sports
Tottenham have declined to comment after Jurgen Klopp suggested that the Premier League clash with Liverpool on Saturday 30 September should be replayed.
Sky Sports shared the news on Wednesday (4 October), with PA also reporting that the stance of the Premier League is unchanged and a replay will not be considered after the VAR audio was released.
All of the drama surrounds the VAR error to disallow Luis Diaz’s goal in the 2-1 Spurs win, as Ange Postecoglou’s men sealed all three points thanks to a Joel Matip own-goal.
Klopp did admit that a replay would be unlikely, suggesting that it is unprecedented given that it hasn’t happened before in the Premier League – a suggestion that has since been mocked far and wide.
Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King told Tottenham News:
“What planet is Klopp on? I had a joke sent to me which suggested the Germans will now want to replay the World Cup final from 1966 because of the dispute over that goal. I mean that is as silly as it is, where would this start and where would it stop?

“If Klopp honestly thinks that this game could be replayed because of a refereeing mistake, what about all the other games that have had refereeing mistakes?
“Is it a case of talking for the sake of it to please the Liverpool supporters? I don’t know but I think it is nonsense.
“If this had been Tottenham versus Sheffield United, and the same thing had happened, there wouldn’t have been too many words said about it. He is a very influential man Klopp and what he says the media seems to pick up on.”
