Tottenham confirm new update on James Maddison after ankle injury

Tottenham have confirmed that James Maddison will remain at the club during the upcoming international break with England.

The playmaker picked up an ankle injury against Chelsea in the 4-1 defeat and will work with medical staff at the club as his rehabilitation work has started already.

It means that Maddison is now likely to miss the Premier League clash against Wolves at Molineux on Saturday 12 November in another issue for Ange Postecoglou.

It comes after Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel reported that Spurs are fearing the ankle injury is worse than first expected with growing concerns over a long lay-off.

There is said to be a “huge concern” behind the scenes, with Postecoglou set to deliver another update in his upcoming press conference later on Friday.

Ex-Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Tottenham News:

There’s a potential injury to James Maddison, after the game we’ve learned that Richarlison is going for pelvic surgery, something he has been struggling with for a long time.

All of a sudden everything was going swimmingly, sat at the top of the league undefeated, we played in one of the strangest games in Premier League history and the back four is torn apart, our best player is potentially injured and we have lost a striker and we’ve got Wolves away, Villa at home, Man City away and West Ham at home.

Is it a bump? Yes, it’s a bump but it could have lasting effects.
