Tottenham chief reveals key ENIC focus amid huge takeover development
Joe Lewis’ intentions at Tottenham have now become clear in the aftermath of Daniel Levy’s departure.
The Lilywhites’ executive chairman recently stepped down from his role after over 25 years at the helm, and his exit has shrouded the club in uncertainty in the last few days.
Levy’s departure from Tottenham has prompted suggestions that the club could be put up for sale, following one of the biggest changes at board level in recent years.
Thomas Frank’s men have made a bright start to the new Premier League campaign, but their efforts on the pitch have been overshadowed by the events off it of late.

Joe Lewis committed to bringing on-pitch success to Tottenham
ENIC have no intention to sell Tottenham in the aftermath of Levy’s departure, and they are seemingly as committed as ever to the club and their investment.
The Lewis family have been linked with a potential sale in the last few days, but it now appears unlikely to materialise, with former Newcastle director Amanda Staveley distancing herself from any potential bid on Monday.
Tottenham have since provided clarity to the situation by posting an interview with chief executive officer Vinai Venkatesham to their YouTube channel, in which he provided an update on the club’s vision and aims moving forward.
- Petter Charrington has effectively taken over from Levy in the new non-executive chairman role
- The Lewis family remain as committed as ever to Tottenham
- The club is categorically not up for sale despite some recent speculation
The Spurs chief made it clear that the Lewis family and ENIC still have lofty ambitions for the N17 outfit, and also highlighted where their key focus lies amid the ongoing speculation regarding a possible takeover.
“I know the Lewis family very well,” Venkatesham said.
“I think it’s important for our supporters to know that they’re very, very passionate about Tottenham and are ambitious for the club.
“When I talk about their ambition, what they really focus on is ensuring that everything we do, across the complete breadth of the club, really centres back and is focused on giving our men’s team and our women’s team the best chance to be successful on the pitch.
“That’s their laser focus, all around being successful on the pitch.”
Ventakashem also added that the recent statement by Spurs was intended to make it “unambiguously clear that Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale.”
Daniel Levy exit should bring new era for Tottenham
Levy frustrated many Tottenham fans over the years for the stingy way that he conducted their transfer business.
The 63-year-old gained a reputation as being a scrupulous negotiator, and this often resulted in the Lilywhites missing out on some of their biggest and most important targets.
Frank’s appointment has already carried them into a new area in a footballing sense in the last few months, and it is now surely time for the board at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to follow in a similar vein.
Talk of the club’s ambition hasn’t been uncommon in recent seasons, and Spurs fans will be desperate to see it put into action across the upcoming campaigns.
Levy’s exit has provided an opportunity for things to be done differently and better practices to be instilled, and that opportunity simply cannot be missed.
