Tottenham captain Son Heung-min nominated for Premier League Player of the Month award

Tottenham captain Son Heung-min is one of seven nominees for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for September.

The Premier League announced the shortlist via their official website (5 October) and fans have until midday on Monday 9 October to vote for their winner.

Son had a sensational September for Spurs, moving to the central number nine position and scoring six times in four appearances, including a hattrick at Turf Moor against Burnley and a brace at the Emirates against Arsenal.

The South Korea international has been nominated alongside Julian Alvarez, Pedro Neto, Jarrod Bowen, Mohamed Salah, Kieran Trippier and Ollie Watkins.

Alan Hutton spoke to Tottenham News about Son’s quality:

“He gives you so much, he likes to run in behind, press, we know he can score goals and he can assist too.

He’s actually an all-rounder, he can play at number nine and there are also other positions along the front line he can play as well, so if Richarlison comes in to play up front, Son can move out wide onto the left or right.

There is movement there and they are all clicking at this moment in time. Could this be the year they could get over the line and win a trophy? That’s what everyone wants.”
