Tottenham attacker to miss rest of season in cruel injury blow

Tottenham have endured a miserable season when it comes to injury and it has gotten even worse.

Ange Postecoglou is under severe pressure in North London after a dismal domestic campaign which has seen his side exit both cups and sit 14th in the Premier League.

The Lilywhites have been struck by a devastating injury crisis with Dominic Solanke, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero ruled out for significant periods.

The Australian has been criticised for a failure to adapt with his intense training procedures and playing squad arguably making the situation worse.

Bryan Gil suffers season-ending injury away from Tottenham

Bryan Gil has failed to breakthrough at Tottenham and was sent to Girona on loan at the start of the current campaign.

However, a report from Cadena Ser (17 March) claims that the 24-year-old, who missed the clash with Valencia (15 March), has damaged his meniscus and lateral knee ligament in his right leg.

The report claims that the Spurs loanee could be set to undergo surgery to resolve the injury, which would end his season two months early.

Gil will surely leave Tottenham in the summer

The Spanish winger has featured 32 times this season for the La Liga outfit, notching four goals and three assists.

Those numbers are far from inspiring and his form does little to suggest that he has a future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The young attacker has been sent on loan in three of the four seasons that he has been on Spurs’ books and it unlikely that he is handed an opportunity with the likes of Son Heung-Min, Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski ahead of him in the pecking order.

His route to the first-team will become even more complicated if Tottenham decide to purchase Mathys Tel in the summer after his loan deal concludes.

It makes sense for both parties to cut ties, especially after his latest injury blow, which could mean that he will not be fully fit for the start of the new season.

His future may depend on Postecoglou’s, as a new manager such as fellow Spaniard Andoni Iraola, may want to take a look at him before making a decision on his future.
