Tottenham appear to have clear run at Brennan Johnson transfer – Sky Sports journalist
Tottenham now appear to have a clear run to sign Nottingham Forest attacker Brennan Johnson, according to Lyall Thomas.
The Sky Sports journalist reported on Thursday 31 August that Brentford have instead made a move to sign PSV speedster Johan Bakayoko, with a £34.2million bid made.
That could now leave the door open for Spurs to sign Johnson before the deadline slams shut on 1 September, with no Harry Kane replacement yet signed.
Clear?
Nothing is ever straightforward when it comes to Tottenham and transfers, so even a supposed clear run does not make this a given that it will happen.
Daniel Levy is not the best at letting the cash fly, although Ange Postecoglou has been somewhat backed already with the potential for one more big move.
With Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski and Son Heung-min the main three options, the signing of Johnson would no doubt bolster the options available moving forward.

The 22-year-old is yet to score in three games this season for Forest, but those have included tough trips to Arsenal and Manchester United already.
Johnson has attracted a lot more attention though, being fouled 2.3 times per game already, with his numbers for shots, dribbles and key passes down on last season [WhoScored].
Opposition teams are starting to take notice of his danger, but in a team such as Spurs who can dominate the ball more and get him into those pockets in the final third, he may be unstoppable.
This is certainly one to watch across deadline day, the door is open.
