Tottenham agree shock deadline-busting deal for Liverpool defender
Tottenham have agreed a shock deadline-busting move to sign Liverpool defender Luca Furnell-Gill, according to Dan Kilpatrick.
The Standard journalist claimed (February 3) that Spurs have secured a deal to sign the 18-year-old from the Reds’ academy before the 11 pm deadline as they seek defensive reinforcements.
The report also claims that the English youngster is not going to be considered for the first-team squad this season.
The centre-back has made six appearances in the Merseysiders youth ranks this campaign and will bolster the Lilywhites academy.
Tottenham planning for the future
The move indicates that Spurs are not just planning for the short-term but they are looking to the future as well.
They are also set to complete a move for Manchester City sensation Daniel Batty before the window shuts.
Those types of signings will not get Lilywhites supporters excited immediately but they should recognise that it represents a positive move overall adding real quality to an academy that already boasts some of the best talents in the country.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have secured the signature of Kevin Danso to bolster the first-team squad but could do with another defender due to injury concerns over Christian Romero and Micky van de Ven.
A move for Axel Disasi failed to materialise after the Chelsea man chose to join Aston Villa instead and time is running out.
It remains to be seen whether the recruitment team can secure another addition to the backline before the end of the window.
In other Tottenham news, the North London club have made a new request to Bayern Munich with Mathys Tel set to join on loan.
