Tim Sherwood embarassed by Tottenham after manager sack
Tim Sherwood believes Tottenham should feel embarrassed for dismissing Nuno Espirito Santo after his exploits with Nottingham Forest.
The 50-year-old had the final laugh over his former employers as Spurs fell to a 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day to pile further pressure on the “arrogant” Ange Postecoglou.
However, Nuno was dismissed four months into his tenure in North London, and with Forest flying high in the Premier League in fourth place, Sherwood shared his verdict on the “manager of the season” live on Sky Sports News (29 December, 12:46).
He said: For me, [he is] manager of the season so far, along with Arne Slot, obviously he’s done a brilliant job at Liverpool. But let’s get it right, Nuno’s got a good record of managing in the Premier League.
“He was fantastic at Wolves they finished seventh, went to Tottenham [and] it didn’t happen, went to Saudi [and] filled the till up, [he’s] come back, and all of a sudden now he’s at Nottingham Forest and he’s absolutely running riot with this side [and] playing how he wants to play.
“At Tottenham, he wasn’t allowed to do that, and you’re absolutely right, it was a little bit embarrassing for Tottenham.”
Ange Postecoglou is fighting for his life at Tottenham
The Australian missed out on Champions League qualification to Aston Villa last term in his maiden year at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Postecoglou was lauded for his expansive brand of attacking football and was widely expected to build on his sensational form this season.
However, Spurs risk heading into the New Year in the bottom half of the Premier League table and may not qualify in the top eight of the Europa League.
According to The Times (27 December), Postecoglou requested that his squad be strengthened in the January transfer window to overturn his torrid fortune in North London.

Tottenham are facing an injury crisis, with Ben Davies confirmed to face a spell on the sidelines, joining preferred centre-back partnership Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero on the treatment table.
It has not been an easy second year in the Premier League for Postecoglou, but while Nuno is taking his Nottingham Forest side into Champions League contention, it is easy to conclude that the Spurs board acted rashly in dismissing the Portuguese boss.
Regardless, Tottenham are preparing to enter the market in January to give Postecoglou the best possible opportunity for a successful second half of the season – but his future is far from safe and will depend on upcoming results.
