Thomas Frank speaks out after major Tottenham appointment news
Thomas Frank has long been on Tottenham’s shortlist to replace Ange Postecoglou this summer.
The Brentford manager’s stock has steadily risen as he has developed his side into a formidable Premier League outfit despite operating under very strict financial constraints.
Ironically, Brentford are the only other league side apart from Europa League final opponents Manchester United that Spurs have not dropped points to this season.
A recent report suggested Frank leads the way to succeed Postecoglou in a major update on the Tottenham managerial situation.

Frank irritated with questions around his future
Tottenham are not the only club to be linked with the Danish manager during his seven-year spell in charge of the Bees, with plenty of suitors both home and abroad admiring his work.
However, he was not in the mood to entertain any speculation after Fulham came from behind to beat Brentford 3-2 at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday (18 May).
Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, as shared via X (18 May) Frank gave a definitive response to whether he was committed to the project in West London.
He said: “I get irritated with your question if I’m honest, because right now of course I’m committed.
“We just lost to Fulham, our local rivals, so [I’m] fuming in every aspect, so yes, I’m committed like I’ve always been.”
Manager | Club | Time as manager |
Pep Guardiola | Manchester City | 8 years, 321 days |
Thomas Frank | Brentford | 6 years, 214 days |
Mikel Arteta | Arsenal | 5 years, 147 days |
Marco Silva | Fulham | 3 years, 321 days |
Eddie Howe | Newcastle | 3 years, 191 days |
The former Bronby manager is the Premier League’s second-longest serving manager after Pep Guardiola, so Spurs may find it harder to pry him away from Brentford than they first imagined.
Frank the perfect fit for Spurs
Spurs’ latest experiment in hiring Ange Postecoglou was arguably his bravest, hiring a relatively unknown manager based on his style of play rather than his top-tier experience.
Ultimately, it didn’t pay dividends, but fans were excited by the Australian’s straight talking and the prospect of a modern attack-minded coach who was savvy with utilising data.
Frank ticks both of those boxes, with his charisma clear for all to see while he is known for being very studious and selective with players he brings in and utilises based on their statistical profile.
His added allure is that he has shown tactical flexibility during Brentford’s evolution in the league, leading Daniel Levy to hope he could bring all those attributes together to steer Tottenham in a positive direction.
