Thomas Frank sacked: Everything we know and what’s next for Tottenham

Thomas Frank has been sacked by Tottenham.

Frank spoke about the sack at Tottenham on Tuesday, suggesting that he felt as if he was safe from losing his job at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That came after Tottenham fell to a 2-1 defeat against Newcastle United, as Jacob Ramsey netted a second-half winner.

There was a desire from fans that the Lewis family should sack Frank after what has been a dreadful spell in charge of the Lilywhites.

Those supporters have got their wish, and Frank has been sacked, and now questions have to be asked about what happens next.

Why have Tottenham sacked Thomas Frank?

A loss against Newcastle came just days after Tottenham fell to defeat against Manchester United in the Premier League.

Spurs weren’t helped when Cristian Romero was sent off, but the result was all too predictable for the North London club.

The Lilywhites are yet to win a single league game in 2026, having failed to pick up three points in clashes against Brentford, Sunderland, Bournemouth, West Ham or Burnley.

That sort of form has left Tottenham 16th in the Premier League and just five points above West Ham in the relegation zone.

That has sparked genuine fear among fans that Spurs could be in the Championship next season and it appears the board have echoed those fears.

The sack trigger has now been pulled, so the Lewis family have to find a replacement with the upcoming North London derby in mind.

What next for Tottenham after Frank sack?

It feels like the Dane had to go because it just hasn’t worked out, but that doesn’t mean it will be easy to find a replacement.

There are a number of options, but the fan favourite choice, Mauricio Pochettino, is unavailable due to his ties with the USA national team.

That could see Spurs turn to an interim boss like Ryan Mason once again, even after his shocking spell as head coach of West Brom.

There are also options who are unattached and available, with the likes of De Zerbi and Ruben Amorim potentially open to being appointed right now.

A North London derby clash is coming up next for Spurs, so whoever comes in has to prepare for a baptism of fire with the Lilywhites.
