Thomas Frank joins Ange Postecoglou in running for Premier League job after Tottenham sack news

Thomas Frank’s time in the Premier League may last longer than anyone expected.

Tottenham could only manage a 2-2 draw away to Burnley at the weekend, and in reality, it’s hard to make a case for their performance even warranting that.

Under Frank, Spurs have been a mess, and they are only four points better off this season than they were at the same stage in the previous campaign that saw Ange Postecoglou sacked.

As a result, there remains a high chance that Frank will be sacked at Tottenham in the coming days, even if there has been no movement in the dugout yet.

If that were to happen, the former Brentford boss could be handed a Premier League lifeline by another Premier League club, who are also in a troubled situation.

Thomas Frank and Ange Postecoglou in contention for new job

Frank has the worst home-record for any Tottenham manager in Premier League history, having won just 18 per cent of the games there this season.

Postecoglou’s sacking was warranted, and yet he boasted a 50 per cent win ratio at home, showcasing the biggest issue that the North Londoners have faced this season.

If that record continues, or even worsens, Frank will be sacked, but that may not spell the end of his time in the Premier League.

That’s because Frank is in the running for the Crystal Palace job, and is priced at 8/1 with major bookmakers to take over from Oliver Glasner, who has ironically been linked with the job at Tottenham.

Postecoglou is also in the running, priced at 12/1, though it is Gareth Southgate who is the current favourite.

Who could take over at Tottenham?

As of right now, it seems as though Glasner is still of interest to Tottenham, though, if they are to hire him before the end of the season, they will have to pay compensation.

Glasner is out of contract at the end of the campaign and has already revealed that he will be moving on from Selhurst Park, presumably due to the lack of backing from the owners, who have already sold Ebere Eze and Marc Guehi over the last six months.

Other candidates include Xabi Alonso and former Barcelona midfielder Xavi, both of whom are without a job after leaving their previous clubs.

Alonso may be the most appealing to those in North London, having led Bayer Leverkusen to an unbeaten campaign just a few years ago.
