Thomas Frank already backed for new Premier League job with another exit lined up

Tottenham finally confirmed the sacking of Thomas Frank on Wednesday.

Spurs lost 2-1 to Newcastle on Tuesday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the Lilywhites yet to win in the Premier League in 2026.

Frank insisted he was safe after the defeat, but the Lewis family saw it as the final straw.

After punching well above his weight in the Premier League with Brentford, it all appeared too much to handle in the end at Hotspur Way.

But, it may not be curtains for Frank in London.

Thomas Frank could have next job lined up already

Justin Allen of The Sun believes that it was more a case of the right guy at the wrong club, with someone like Crystal Palace possibly set to benefit.

Feel for Thomas Frank,” he wrote.

Great guy and excellent coach. Tottenham was the wrong club for him.

He will go somewhere else and do well again. Perhaps Crystal Palace when Glasner leaves?

Of course, Oliver Glasner has already confirmed that he will leave Selhurst Park at the end of this season, opening the door for a possible switch already.

Glasner has also been linked with Tottenham, ironically, but the timing appears all wrong for that.

Thomas Frank by the numbers at Tottenham – This is why it didn’t work

Frank has been on thin ice for months now.

The majority of Tottenham fans wanted him gone after the inexplicable 2-1 defeat to West Ham, but it was the Champions League form keeping him in place.

With safe passage to the final 16 already secured, even that wasn’t enough to save him this time.

Looking at the above Sofascore graphic, it’s clear to see why Frank has finally been dismissed, and maybe even a surprise that he lasted so long.

Only winning 13 of 38 games in charge is nowhere near good enough, and only just keeping above 50 per cent possession on average is proof that the Dane is likely more suited to a lesser team who don’t expect to dominate.

Whether a temporary team could be placed in charge until the summer, which could open the door to Glasner, but others would prefer Mauricio Pochettino in that situation.

Pochettino has his eyes set on a home World Cup with the United States, so he likely won’t be available until July, meaning there may be no rush.

As for Frank, he will get another shot in the Premier League, just look at Ange Postecoglou.
