This is what Daniel Levy is demanding of Thomas Frank in debut Tottenham season
Thomas Frank represents a different profile of manager at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Dane did an admirable job at Brentford and grew their stature while making a name for himself within the English game.
Frank follows in the footsteps of Ange Postecoglou, who delivered a trophy amid a season of inconsistency.
With Spurs fighting on all fronts next season, it is tough to predict where the North London club will finish.

Frank’s Premier League expectations mooted
Tottenham were held by Newcastle United in their most recent pre-season match after letting a one-goal lead slip.
However, the result was not the major blow as James Maddison was stretchered off for Spurs.
Frank spoke on the injury and stated that it did not look good for the midfielder, who has endured struggles with injuries.
Last term, the Lilywhites finished in 17th and recorded the most losses in a single Premier League season by a non-relegated team.
This season, the North London club are expected to improve significantly, while they will want to progress in the Champions League.
Season | Position |

2022/23 | 8th |
2023/24 | 5th |
2024/25 | 17th |
Simon Jordan and Martin O’Neil have discussed what expectations Daniel Levy would have laid out for Frank for the upcoming campaign on talkSPORT (4 August, 11.29am).
Jordan said: “I would imagine, and I think I can make this relatively confidently, one of the key focuses is that they’ve got to qualify for Europe.
“Now, the Spurs fans might not like that; they might think that’s a participation sport…
“Thomas Frank must have known this. He was the one who was sought; it was his door that got knocked on. He didn’t apply for the Tottenham Hotspur job… so in that conversation, he’d have been telling Tottenham to some extent what his expectations were.
O’Neil replied: “And going back to Daniel, what do you think his expectation of Thomas Frank would be this season?
Jordan: “Get in the top four. Get them back in the Champions League. They’ve got to fund their stadium.”
Top-four finish would be incredible achievement for Tottenham
While a top-four finish would not bring a trophy, it would be a stark improvement on last season for Spurs.
Next season, Liverpool look to be stronger, Man City have strengthened substantially, and Arsenal and Chelsea should challenge.
That means that a place in the top four is going to be a tough ask for Frank, who needs more additions.
- Liverpool have spent an estimated £295.5million
- Man City and Arsenal have spent north of £120million
- Tottenham have spent a reported £110.7million
The Lilywhites have signed Mohammed Kudus for £55million and have added a sprinkling of other players, including Joao Palhinha.
However, if they want to fight the league’s best, then they need more quality through the door.
While there has been talk of Rodrygo and Morgan Gibbs-White, Tottenham need to cement their interest with more acquisitions.
