Tamworth v Tottenham preview: Team news, betting odds, lineups, where to watch

Ange Postecoglou will be eager to ride the high at Tottenham and secure another domestic cup victory against Tamworth.

The Australian found himself under immense pressure in North London following the 6-3 loss at home against Liverpool recently, but got his revenge on Wednesday (8 January) with the 1-0 win against the Reds in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Now, Spurs have a golden opportunity to progress into the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday (12 January) with a trip to National League outfit Tamworth.

Preview

Spurs versus Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is becoming a hotbed for controversy between the Premier League sides.

Luis Diaz saw his effort for the Reds wrongly disallowed for offside as Tottenham marched to a 2-1 win in North London last season, and Wednesday’s (8 January) contest was also riled with controversy.

Liverpool coach Sipke Hulshoff was booked for his protests after Lucas Bergvall’s match-winner after he hacked down Kostas Tsimikas while on a yellow card only minutes before his goal.

Regardless, Spurs will take a one-goal advantage to Anfield and must now focus on progressing further in the FA Cup.

Postecoglou has dealt with more than his fair share of injury woes this year, but in the face of non-league opposition, he can provide his regular starters with some much-needed respite and should still comfortably progress into the next round.

Tamworth are lingering in the bottom half of the National League and will be expected to provide no real threat to Tottenham on the weekend.

Where to watch?

The match at The Lamb Ground will kick off 12:30pm GMT on Sunday (12 January) and will be available live on ITV1 and will also available for streaming on ITVX.

Prediction: Tamworth 0-4 Tottenham

The Lilywhites will surely have far too much firepower for the National League side to handle on Sunday, and the contest will only end one way.

While the magic of the FA Cup will not rule out a miraculous victory for the hosts, the gulf in class is far too big for Tamworth to cause an upset.

Postecoglou is expected to name a side with a blend of youth and experience to comfortably secure passage to the next round.
