Son to play final North London Derby? Tottenham star’s record v Arsenal
Son Heung-min could be set to face Arsenal for the last time in Tottenham colours on Thursday.
Spurs are set to take on the Gunners as part of their pre-season tour in Asia at the Kai Tak stadium in Hong Kong (31 July).
Son‘s contractual obligations dictate that he will likely feature before potentially leaving the Lilywhites after almost a decade at Spurs.
This could be the final opportunity that Tottenham fans get to see their iconic captain face their bitter rivals, as Tottenham News look back at the South Korean’s record against Arsenal.

Arsenal will be happy to see the back of Son
Son was the only player to score for Spurs last season against the Gunners, as Tottenham lost both Premier League fixtures against their fierce rivals.
The Lilywhites have not fared well against Arsenal in recent years, as Mikel Arteta’s side have established themselves as regular title challengers, while Tottenham’s trajectory has been far less consistent.
Nevertheless, Son has continued to be a thorn in Arsenal’s side, scoring four goals in the last four encounters between the two North London rivals.
Statistics | Son’s record |
Appearances | 22 |
Goals Scored | 9 |
Assists | 4 |
Wins | 6 |
Losses | 6 |
Draws | 10 |
The 33-year-old was also integral to Spurs’ best run of form against Arsenal, registering a goal and an assist in each home victory for three years running from 2020-2022.
Overall, Son has faced Arsenal 22 times, and is tied in third for most goals ever in North London derbies in the Premier League with Robert Pires.
Emmanuel Adebayor, who played for both clubs, is ahead of the former Bayer Leverkusen man with 10 goals, while Harry Kane predictably sits way out in front with 14.

Perfect send-off if Son is to leave
While Son’s departure will inevitably invoke an emotional response from everyone associated with Tottenham, he will be getting as close to a perfect send-off as possible.
The Spurs legend will have his picture on the walls inside the stadium forever after captaining the club to just their third European trophy last season, ending a 41-year wait.
Son would only leave after the Lilywhites take on Newcastle at the Seoul World Cup stadium in South Korea, 3 August.
This means that his final outing for Tottenham could very well be in front of his adoring home fans, allowing the icon to get the perfect send-off.
