Son to link-up with player he once came to blows with after Tottenham exit decision
Son Heung-min has confirmed that he will be leaving Tottenham this summer.
Son, 33, confirmed his departure via a press conference on Saturday ahead of Spurs’ friendly with Newcastle United in his home country of South Korea.
Son is set to end an incredible decade-long stint with Spurs, with Los Angeles FC looking the most likely to sign him.
Should the South Korean captain move to the MLS this summer, he will be re-uniting with an old teammate, one in which he had a major bust-up with.
Son to reunite with Hugo Lloris at LAFC
Son is set to be reunited with former Spurs captain Hugo Lloris.
Lloris, 38, spent 11 and a half years at Tottenham, making 447 appearances for the Lilywhites before leaving for MLS in January 2024.
Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Premier League | 333 | 127 | 77 |
FA Cup | 30 | 14 | 12 |
Carabao Cup | 20 | 5 | 2 |
Champions League | 39 | 16 | 2 |
Europa League | 28 | 10 | 7 |
Conference League | 4 | 1 | 1 |
The former France captain had a major bust-up with Son back in 2020, during Spurs‘ 1-0 victory over Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
At half-time, with Tottenham ahead after a Michael Keane own goal, Lloris made his feelings known to the Korean for not tracking back after losing the ball to Richarlison.
Footage from the Amazon Prime documentary All or Nothing later showed Lloris needing to be restrained by Serge Aurier in the dressing room, before both parties were calmed by Jose Mourinho.

Tottenham’s Champions League final squad now fully gone
Son has become a legend in North London since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, and his legacy is cemented by the Europa League win in May.
Son’s imminent departure will mean that every member of Tottenham’s Champions League final starting 11 from 2019 will have left the club.
The winger will always remain a legend at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but his exit now signals a new era for the club under Thomas Frank.
