Son plays middle man to broker seven-figure transfer for Mason at West Brom
Ryan Mason left Tottenham earlier this summer to become manager at West Brom, in his first role as a head coach.
Mason spent several seasons as a coach at Tottenham, including two interim spells, but is now making his bow as a senior manager.
West Brom have been linked with a move for Mikey Moore as a result of Mason’s appointment, and there may still be more Tottenham influence at The Hawthorns to follow.
Son Heung-min has been linked with a move away from Spurs, but could now play a role in a transfer for West Brom while he is still in England.

West Brom bid for South Korean winger
West Brom have now reportedly made a £1 million bid for South Korean winger Jeon Jin-Woo, who scored 16 goals last season, and Spurs captain Son has played a part.
Son is also South Korea’s captain, and has played alongside Jin-Woo at international level, and could now help bring the winger to England.
Competition | Apperances | Goals | Assists |
Premier League | 30 | 7 | 10 |
UEFA Europa League | 10 | 3 | 1 |
FA Cup | 4 | 1 | 0 |
Carabao Cup | 2 | 0 | 1 |
It has been reported by Korean journalist Seol Ho-jung (14 July), that Son may have spoken to Mason about the winger, and encouraged him to sign him this summer.
Son has made 134 appearances for South Korea, scoring 51 goals, and also won a gold medal at the Asian games in 2018.
Mason could use Spurs connections at West Brom
Former midfielder Mason, who had to retire from football early on in his career due to a head injury, was a highly rated figure within Tottenham’s coaching setup in the last few years.
Walking into a club as big as West Brom in his first job as a manager was no easy feat, and he will be aiming for promotion to the Premier League.
Mason will certainly look towards some of the players he worked with at youth level, such as Moore, for loan moves, and this could also be of benefit to Tottenham.
Spurs could loan some of their talents to Mason at West Brom, and will hope that he could give them opportunities and help them develop away from the club.
