Son Heung-min shares ‘lovely’ moment with Mauricio Pochettino as Tottenham heroes reunite

Son Heung-min’s departure was a key part of the significant change that has taken place at Tottenham this summer.

The South Korea international left Spurs after a decade-long spell in N17, which culminated with him lifting the Europa League trophy back in May.

Tottenham sold Son to MLS side LAFC for a fee in the region of £20million, and his exit has since been followed by Daniel Levy’s decision to step down as chairman.

The Lilywhites have a new look from top to bottom this term, but two of their former heroes have just shared a moment that will have fans thinking back to old times.

Son Heung-min and Mauricio Pochettino share ‘lovely’ embrace

Son’s decision to leave Spurs has felt like the end of an era, and the Lilywhites will be hoping that some of their new arrivals can have as big an impact as their former skipper.

The winger was exceptional for the North Londoners, and surely now sits firmly among their group of legends.

He has already got off to a good start in the MLS, having notched a goal and an assist from his first four outings.

His rich vein of form continued in the international break, as he netted the opening goal in South Korea’s 2-0 win over the USA in New Jersey on Saturday.

However, it was a moment that took place before kick-off that will be of interest to the Tottenham faithful.

The American national team are now led by former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, and he wasted no time in greeting Son before the clash.

Journalist Gary Ward captured the “lovely” moment that saw the pair share a warm embrace before the game got underway.

Cristian Romero could replace Son Heung-min’s influence at Tottenham

Cristian Romero has been named as Tottenham’s captain in the aftermath of Son’s departure, and he could be the man to replace the influence that their departing star had in N17.

Son was almost universally respected and became the recognisable face of the club and the squad in recent years.

His presence will be sorely missed, but Romero possesses all of the necessary leadership qualities to step up and fill the void that has been left.

The Argentine’s discipline hasn’t always been up to standard, but he must now take the responsibility upon himself to play an even more vital role within the group.
