Son Heung-min sends heartfelt message to Maddison after crushing Tottenham injury

James Maddison has endured torrid luck with injuries at Tottenham, and this season has started in the same vein.

Maddison was stretchered off against Newcastle United in pre-season and is expected to be out for six to nine months after rupturing his ACL.

The injury has effectively accelerated the Lilywhites’ transfer activity, and they are working on a replacement for the attacking midfielder.

As the 28-year-old recovers from his injury, former teammate Son Heung-min has sent him a sincere message following surgery.

Son lost for words after Maddison injury

Maddison will be a miss for Tottenham, but this type of scenario is nothing new for the North London club.

The Englishman has been a Lilywhites player for two years, having signed from Leicester City, and has made 75 appearances.

However, Maddison has missed over 20 matches for Spurs in that time, in what has been a regular issue for the player.

Injuries plagued the Premier League club last season and were a key reason why they were so unsuccessful in the top flight.

As expected, the midfielder has received love and support from players, pundits, and former teammates after posting on social media from his hospital bed.

Indeed, departed Tottenham legend Son commented on Maddison’s emotional Instagram post on 13 August.

Son said: “My boy, I don’t know what to say. Get well soon, you will come back stronger than ever, thinking of you”

Will Tottenham replace Maddison this summer?

Spurs were planning on signing an attacking midfielder even before Maddison suffered his horror injury.

Morgan Gibbs-White was their preferred target, but Nottingham Forest prevented that move from happening.

However, Tottenham have entered talks with Crystal Palace over Eberechi Eze, who would be a statement signing.

Spurs could also move for Bilal El-Khannouss, who would prove a cheaper option from Leicester City.

Whatever happens, the Lilywhites must replace Maddison if they are to compete on all fronts this season.
