Son Heung-min sends goodbye message after Tottenham exit confirmed

Son Heung-min could be set to leave Tottenham this summer.

The South Korea international is adored amongst the Lilywhites fanbase and finally lifted a trophy with Spurs as they won the Europa League title.

However, the 32-year-old has struggled with injuries this season and his form has dropped drastically as a result of not being rotated, and he started that final from the bench.

The captain may be allowed to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a potential mega-money exit on the cards.

Son sends Postecoglou message as Tottenham sack confirmed

Ange Postecoglou was relieved of his duties on Friday (6 June) despite winning Spurs’ first trophy in 17 years.

Ultimately, that success was not enough to ignore the dismal Premier League form that has seen the N17 outfit lose 22 matches in a season.

The skipper took to Instagram (7 June) to thank Postecoglou for his contributions in a heartfelt message after the news was announced.

He said: “Gaffer. You’ve changed the trajectory of this club. You believed in yourself, and us, since day one and never wavered for a second. Even when others did.

“You knew what we were capable of all along. You did it your way. And your way brought this club the best night it’s had in decades. We will have those memories for life.

“You trusted me with the captaincy. One of the highest honours of my career. It’s been an incredible privilege to learn from your leadership up close, I am a better player and a better person because of you.

“Ange Postecoglou, you are a Tottenham Hotspur legend forever. Thank you, mate.”

Postecoglou exit could be followed by Son

Tottenham are set to return to the Champions League next season but Son may not be a part of that team, with an exit heavily mooted in recent weeks.

Reports have linked the South Korean star with a move to Saudi Arabia and it is understood that the North London club would accept a big-money offer for their skipper.

Former Spurs scout Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News that the club would have no qualms accepting a £100million bid for Son.

It would be the perfect end to his career at Hotspur Way if he were to depart after winning their first trophy since 2008, but many supporters would be devastated to lose him.

He is still capable of producing magic moments and notched 23 goal contributions despite his fitness woes, but it is probably the N17 outfit’s last chance to secure a big payday on him, it is a tough decision for Daniel Levy.

To lose their manager and a player of his influence in one window would be a brutal blow and the new boss may struggle to recover from that and get his squad up for the new campaign.
