Solanke sends message to Aston Villa star after development away from Tottenham

Tottenham and Aston Villa are Premier League rivals, but Dominic Solanke appears to have put that rivalry aside for the time being after his recent message.

Spurs supporters would have been delighted as Solanke was called up by Thomas Tuchel for England.

There were some perhaps controversial calls in the Three Lions squad for the March international break, such as the decision to leave Djed Spence out.

In addition, England were accused of an agenda against Tottenham after some strange developments at youth level. Therefore, fans would have been delighted that they had at least one player representing Spurs in the senior England setup.

However, Solanke failed to make it onto the pitch in either of the Three Lions’ World Cup qualifying victories over the past week, although this doesn’t appear to have dampened the striker’s spirits.

It has been a busy international break for Spurs’ players thus far, with Lamine Yamal sending a message to Pedro Porro after developments with Spain.

Most of Spurs’ first-team players have played plenty of minutes over the past week, apart from Solanke, who was an unused substitute in the 2-0 win over Albania on Friday (21 March) and the 3-0 win over Latvia on Monday (24 March), both at Wembley.

However, Solanke has demonstrated that despite not featuring, he is still very much a team player.

It comes as Aston Villa star Ezri Konsa took to his personal Instagram account after the win on Monday to post a series of action photos, with the caption, “Two out of two. Signing out, for now, England”.

And among the many comments was Solanke, who wrote, “Coldest”.

Solanke needs to step up for Tottenham

Spurs are heading into an extremely crucial part of the season.

There is plenty at stake in North London, not least so Ange Postecoglou’s long-term future. It appears as though the only way the Australian might be able to keep his job is by lifting the UEFA Europa League this season.

Therefore, the 59-year-old, as well as Spurs supporters, will be desperate for Solanke to step up in the coming months and score the goals that lead Tottenham to glory in Europe.

Despite not getting on the pitch, Solanke would have no doubt enjoyed his time away with England, where there was perhaps less pressure on the 27-year-old. However, now it is time to shift his focus back to Tottenham, with a big couple of months ahead.
