Solanke in new Tottenham injury worry, Ray Parlour reacts

Ray Parlour has been left questioning Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou after the defeat against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday.

Spurs travelled to the Netherlands on 6 March but kicked off their Europa League round of 16 clash in frustrating fashion.

A Lucas Bergvall own goal proved to be the difference, but it is fair to say that the Lilywhites boss will be more concerned by a new injury concern than the result.

Dominic Solanke went off before the final whistle in worrying fashion despite returning to action less than 20 minutes before.

Parlour reacts to new Solanke injury blow at Tottenham

It is little secret that the North London outfit have dealt with their fair share of injury concerns this season.

There appeared to be some light at the end of the tunnel for Spurs as both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero made the bench against AZ Alkmaar.

Despite neither getting on to the pitch, having them available for selection is a huge boost, especially with Solanke also available.

The England international came on but was forced off in apparent agony which will be of great concern to Postecoglou ahead of a trip to Bournemouth on Sunday (9 March).

Former Arsenal man Parlour questioned this live on talkSPORT (7 March, 06:11am) as the Europa League reverse fixture also looms.

He said: “What does he do at the weekend now, Ange? Solanke hobbled off, will he be fit? We’ll have to wait and see.

“It’s a situation where all the eggs are in one basket for Spurs so I can see him maybe resting key players at the weekend. Bournemouth are a very good side but if I’m Ange I’m more worried about next Thursday than the weekend.”

Tottenam must cope without Solanke v Bournemouth

It didn’t look good for the 27-year-old as he was forced off in the Netherlands and looked to be in visible pain.

Solanke has been absent since mid-January and as a result, Postecoglou will have been keen to avoid rushing the striker back too quickly.

It is unclear whether this was the case but the crux of the matter is that the Englishman looks set for a further spell on the sidelines.

Now ahead of a trip to face a high-flying Bournemouth side, the Spurs boss will once again have to put his faith in Mathys Tel regardless of a difficult start to life in N17.

With that being said, the Lilywhites faithful will now await news on the fitness of their number nine in hope that he can feature against Alkmaar next week.
