Solanke and Lamela react instantly as West Ham transfer finalised
Tottenham have breathed new air into West Ham’s summer window after their move for Mohammed Kudus.
The £55million that saw Kudus switch East London for North has allowed the Hammers to splash the cash, signing El Hadji Malick Diouf for £19m from Slavia Prague.
And Graham Potter’s team are expected to continue their spending after slumping to a disappointing 14th place in the Premier League last season.

Lamela and Solanke react to Walker-Peters move
Dominic Solanke and Erik Lamela have reacted to the confirmation of former Spurs man Kyle Walker-Peters’ move to West Ham.
The full-back has signed for the Hammers on a three-year deal following the end of his contract with Southampton.
Walker-Peters had looked set for a move to Turkish side Besiktas, but a last-minute intervention from West Ham has seen the player opt for a stay in the Premier League instead.
The defender is expected to add depth across Graham Potter’s backline, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka previously lacking a natural replacement in the squad.
Kyle Walker-Peters | Tottenham (2017-2020) |
Appearances | 24 |
Walker-Peters began his career in the Tottenham academy, eventually breaking through to the first team at the start of the 2017/18 season.
He made his full Premier League debut against Newcastle United on the opening day, and made six further appearances in the following season.
When game time became hard to come by in the 2019/20 season, Walker-Peters moved on loan for the second half of the season, joining Southampton.
And after a positive six months in the south, the Saints made the deal permanent.
The full-back would go on to make 202 appearances for Southampton, with much of them coming in the Premier League, and would be capped twice by England.
Lamela, who played for Spurs for eight years, including the time in which Walker-Peters made his breakthrough, and Solanke, who spent time with the defender in several England camps, liked West Ham’s post on Instagram confirming the signing.
Spurs academy continues to produce
Walker-Peters is a great example of the Tottenham academy’s ability to produce Premier League-level players.
The defender has established himself as a consistent and quality defender in England’s top division, and will be a smart signing for West Ham.
While Spurs will hope the circumstances that led to Walker-Peters’ departure will not be repeated for the best talents to come out of the academy, his sale ultimately proves the importance of continuing to invest in it.
The Englishman’s move to Southampton was a deal worth around £12m to Tottenham, which would prove incredibly valuable in terms of pure profit – in today’s Profit and Sustainability Rules language.
