Sky Sports share Postecoglou next job update from Tottenham training base

Ange Postecoglou is seeking a new job after being relieved of his duties at Tottenham.

Postecoglou won the Europa League with Tottenham this season – their first trophy in 17 years – but chairman Daniel Levy still felt it necessary to sack him.

This would almost definitely be due to Tottenham’s Premier League form. The North London club finished 17th with just 38 points, enough to be relegated in previous seasons.

Even so, Postecoglou leaves with his reputation intact. Many fans and pundits thought it was wrong to sack him, and it’s looking likely he could be employed at another big club soon.

Teams interested in appointing Postecoglou after Tottenham sack

Postecoglou is the bookies’ favourite to take over at AEK Athens, although there is no suggestion that he has been in negotiations with any other club.

However, a new update from Sky Sports News (11 June, 8:26am) indicates that an official approach for Postecoglou’s services might arrive sooner rather than later.

Speaking outside Tottenham’s training base, reporter Michael Bridge stated that at least a couple of teams are seriously interested in hiring him.

Discussing the decision to sack the Aussie, he said: “Maybe it’s good for Postecoglou, who leaves with his head held high.

“My understanding is that there are a couple of clubs sniffing around Postecoglou already after that Europa League win.”

Postecoglou has earned the right to manage another big club

Postecoglou ultimately paid the price of Tottenham’s poor form in the Premier League.

A 17th-place finish is diabolical for a club of this stature. They were a laughing stock until they picked up that Europa League trophy.

Levy will claim that the funds given to Postecoglou were enough to create a team capable of competing on multiple fronts.

Postecoglou could fire back, as he did in several press conferences throughout the season, by stating he had to deal with one of the biggest injury crises ever experienced by a Premier League team.

Either way, his time at Spurs is over. He’s earned the right to manage another big European club and will surely be offered the opportunity to do that.

Or maybe he’ll appear on the international stage, as reports have suggested Postecoglou could become the new Scotland coach.

Either way, if Sky Sports reports are accurate, we might even see him managing elsewhere by the time the new season begins.
