Sky Sports share breaking news on Tottenham ownership situation

Tottenham have been at the centre of takeover talks since Daniel Levy stepped down as chairman.

Levy’s dismissal as Tottenham chairman was a curveball that no Spurs supporter saw coming. The former Spurs chairman took over in 2000 and remained in the position for almost 25 years.

He comes as part of the many changes taking place at Hotspur Way, with Donna-Maria Cullen stepping down as Executive Director at Tottenham in the summer.

But with Levy no longer Tottenham chairman, speculation surrounding new ownership has been rife.

Amanda Staveley will not bid for Tottenham

It had been suggested that Levy’s exit opened the floodgates to a potential takeover at Tottenham.

Former director at Newcastle United, Amanda Staveley, was expected to put in a bid for Spurs as sale talks hit their peak.

However, as relayed by Sky Sports on Monday, 8 September, Staveley’s PCP International Finance has confirmed it will not make an offer for Tottenham.

This comes after Tottenham owners ENIC confirmed it had received and rejected expressions of interest from PCP and a consortium of investors led by Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng through Firehawk Holdings Limited.

Presenter Tom White said live on Sky Sports News (8 September, 12:04pm): “We’ve got some breaking news to bring you. Amanda Staveley has released a statement in the last few minutes.”

That statement was then read out, confirming Staveley and her group have no intention of making an offer for Spurs.

What is the Lewis family’s stance on a Tottenham takeover?

The Lewis family have repeatedly reaffirmed their commitment to Tottenham amid speculation of a takeover.

Furthermore, the Lewis family are keen to prioritise sorting success at Tottenham over business ventures which Levy was infamous for.

This has already been seen through the North London club’s approach to the summer transfer window. Tottenham’s investment in Xavi Simons, who is already considered a world-class star, has been hailed as a step in the right direction and marks a stark contrast from previous business.

Meanwhile, the Lilywhites have also secured loan deals for Randal Kolo Muani and Joao Palhinha. The two are expected to be important for the Lilywhites during the tail end of the season.

But with Levy no longer chairman and Vinai Venkatesham as Spurs CEO, real change has landed in North London.
