Sky reporter reacts to ‘remarkable’ Frank news in next Tottenham manager breakthrough

Tottenham are keen on hiring Brentford manager Thomas Frank, and all signs point towards him taking the job.

Ange Postecoglou was dismissed in spite of winning the Europa League, but Spurs are aiming to make an ambitious appointment in Frank.

The Dane achieved promotion with Brentford and has since made them a stable Premier League side, and Tottenham are hoping that he can impress at a higher level.

There now appears to be a breakthrough in negotiations to bring Frank across London, but some have questioned whether he is the right man to succeed Postecoglou.

Frank European credentials questioned amid Spurs breakthrough

It has now been reported that Brentford are willing to listen to Tottenham as they attempt to take Frank from them.

Frank has a reported £10million release clause, but it now appears that Brentford are willing to negotiate, a huge step as Tottenham close in on Frank.

However, Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridges has now highlighted Frank’s lack of European experience ahead of the UEFA Super Cup and Champions League next season.

Frank’s Brentford record

“Thomas Frank – like Postecoglou – is a very engaging character,” he stated.

“There’s a lot of admiration for him here at Spurs, but he doesn’t have any European or Europa League experience. He will be a Champions League manager if Spurs decide to appoint him.

“And one of his first games would be the UEFA Super Cup – so he could bring in a trophy in early August against PSG.

“It would be quite remarkable if it is Thomas Frank.”

Frank can improve Tottenham’s current squad

Despite winning the Europa League, Postecoglou finished 17th with this Spurs squad, a simply unacceptable position given the money that has been spent assembling it.

Although further investment is needed, there is potential for the current squad to improve, and Frank can help them in this regard.

The 51-year-old has consistently improved Brentford despite constantly losing his best players, and as a coach, has helped get the best out of attacking players such as Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo.

If he is appointed, Spurs will be hopeful that they can shoot back up the table again after a woeful Premier League campaign, with internal improvements potentially being fruitful.
