Simon Jordan rages at what Postecoglou was forced to do at Tottenham
Ange Postecoglou faces his biggest game in charge of Tottenham on Thursday, when the North Londoners host Bodo/Glimt in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final.
Tottenham have endured a woeful Premier League campaign, but winning the Europa League would mark a historic season.
Spurs were hammered 5-1 by Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, as Postecoglou’s men were consigned to their 19th top-flight defeat of the season.
But Postecoglou’s side can put their Merseyside woes behind them with an important victory over Bodo/Glimt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Simon Jordan fumes over Postecoglou interview
Spurs can slip to 17th in the Premier League if they are beaten by London rivals West Ham on Sunday (4 May).
Meanwhile, Postecoglou was asked in an interview about Arsenal fans chanting about Spurs in their victory over Real Madrid.
When discussing the Australian’s future live on talkSPORT [1 May, 10.44 am], Simon Jordan said: “I hated that interview when the interviewer asked him to explain his reaction to fans singing at Arsenal at the Madrid game, ‘are you Tottenham in disguise?’ I thought that was silly.”
The Europa League presents Tottenham with a huge opportunity
Spurs have enjoyed a truly woeful Premier League campaign and appear likely to lose more top-flight fixtures before the season concludes later this month.
Opponent | Result |
Frankfurt (A) | 0-1 W |
Nottingham Forest (H) | 1-2 L |
Liverpool (A) | 5-1 L |
But Postecoglou, who appears set for the sack regardless of his European success, has a major opportunity to steer Tottenham to Europa League glory.
If Spurs lift their first silverware since their League Cup triumph in 2008, Postecoglou will always be remembered for his efforts, regardless of his side’s poor showings in the Premier League.
Winning the Europa League would also see Spurs playing Champions League football, which would bolster their chances of enjoying a strong summer transfer window.
Furthermore, the likes of Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, who has been eyed as a potential Postecoglou replacement by Daniel Levy, could be more tempted to move to North London if Champions League football is on offer next term.
Spurs are close to reaching the Europa League final, and should be able to overcome the challenge posed by Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt.
