Simon Jordan snaps back at James Maddison in new Tottenham relegation dig
James Maddison has come under a fair bit of criticism at Tottenham this season.
Tottenham have not covered themselves in glory, but as a senior player in the squad, Maddison has been at the forefront of the backlash.
Having struggled with fitness at times, too, it has been a disappointing campaign for the 28-year-old.

Simon Jordan takes dig at Maddison once more
It’s not just supporters who have been outspoken against Maddison this term, with the conversation often taking centre stage.
Roy Keane was previously involved in a spat with the Spurs man, with both men taking shots at each other.
Simon Jordan was also vocal in his criticism of Maddison earlier in the season, arguing that he couldn’t see Spurs winning anything with the 28-year-old.
Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Premier League | 31 | 9 | 7 |
Europa League | 11 | 3 | 3 |
However, after winning the Europa League, the Tottenham player wasted no time in taking to social media and referring back to Jordan’s comments, proving him wrong.
Jim White played the clip to Jordan live on talkSPORT (27 May, 11:07am) and was eager to ask his thoughts on the response.
Jordan wasted no time in making his feelings clear, though, as he responded: “It’s good that they listen to the show. It’s good that they listen to the show and up their performance in the game, oh he didn’t play in the game, did he? Oh yeah, okay. He didn’t play in that game.
“The ultimate Maddison effect is that you win things now with Maddison and your team gets relegated and perhaps if he had been available for Spurs more this season, they might have got relegated. They did their very best to try to didn’t they by, finishing fourth from bottom?
Maddison has to up levels at Tottenham
It has been a terrible season at Tottenham and potentially, Maddison has come under more criticism than his teammates.
With that in mind, you can understand the attacker’s decision to make a point that he has been a part of the success at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.
However, responding to a video about his side being unable to win things with a player of his quality after not having played in the game as a result of injury seems like a bit of a silly response.
With Jordan well known for his quick and snappy remarks too, it was only natural that he was going to take aim straight back.
Tottenham need to be performing to much higher standards next season and if he is to repair his reputation, Maddison has to work hard to make sure he is ready to go and perform.
