Simon Jordan moots Daniel Levy assurances for Thomas Frank at Tottenham

Simon Jordan has spoken out as Tottenham prepare to announce the appointment of Thomas Frank.

An agreement has now been reached for Frank to succeed Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

Frank has cemented Brentford as a mid-table Premier League team since obtaining promotion from the Championship in 2021.

Pep Guardiola is the only Premier League manager who has been at his current club longer than Frank.

However, the Dane is now on track to leave Brentford for Tottenham, and Jordan has shared his thoughts on the appointment.

Frank ‘will be backed by Daniel Levy at Tottenham’

Tottenham finished 17th in the Premier League this season, while Brentford ended the season seven places higher in 10th, with an extra 18 points on the board.

The Bees’ league performance is just one of several things that would have attracted Levy to Frank.

However, the Tottenham chairman would have needed to convince Frank to leave the Bees and take a leap of faith this summer.

And Jordan suggested on talkSPORT (9 June) that Frank would not have taken the role had Levy not promised him sufficient resources.

The former Crystal Palace owner said, “[Thomas] Frank doesn’t need to leave Brentford. [Thomas] Frank is choosing to leave Brentford.

“So I would imagine that Frank has a level of currency of what he’ll walk into at Spurs and be prepared to accept from Levy, and as an investable opportunity.

“All of those things play into the narrative that Tottenham will support their manager. But I wouldn’t be worried about whether Tottenham are going to back their manager, I would be worried about what they buy with the money.”

Tottenham need a strong summer transfer window

The Lilywhites slowed down their transfer affairs while they sorted out their managerial position.

But now that Postecoglou’s departure has been confirmed and Frank has reached an agreement with Tottenham, the North London club can shift their focus onto new signings.

Frank will need at least four incomings to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season.

This could include a centre-back or two if Cristian Romero leaves for Atletico Madrid, and Spurs have already identified Jarrad Branthwaite as a potential replacement.
