Simon Jordan makes Daniel Levy claim ahead of Tottenham game v Liverpool
Simon Jordan has claimed Tottenham reaching the EFL Cup final would be “in spite” of Daniel Levy in the eyes of some supporters.
The Lilywhites ended a poor run of Premier League form with a 2-0 win at Brentford on Sunday (2 February), a result Ange Postecoglou will be hoping is proof the tide is starting to turn.
They go into their semi-final at Anfield on Thursday (6 February) 1-0 up on aggregate although with the Reds in excellent form this season, the task ahead of them will not be an easy one.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (5 February, 12:57), Jordan admitted he doesn’t feel optimistic about Tottenham’s chances and aimed a thinly veiled dig at the criticism executive chairman Levy receives from some quarters of the fanbase.
He said: “I can’t see anything other than they’re going to a good pumping because they’re not a great side.
“I want them to, I want them to win because I would like to see them do well.
“Of course, if they got to the final and won it still wouldn’t be down to Daniel [Levy], it would be in spite of Daniel in the eyes of certain people. But it’s difficult to see.”
Ange Postecoglou needs Tottenham win
While it has to be noted that some of Postecoglou’s struggles at Tottenham this season have come as a result of bad luck with injuries and a lack of investment from above, it doesn’t change the fact that the boss is under pressure with his side sitting 14th in the Premier League.
Furthermore, with Postecoglou continuously reinforcing the idea that he always wins something in his second season with a club, he has put the expectation on himself to succeed with silverware this term.
Therefore, extending their stay in cup competitions has to be a priority for Spurs in the remainder of the campaign, which starts against Liverpool.

Although it won’t be an easy game, with the Lilywhites going into the tie with a lead, they have to take advantage of this and make the most of it, putting on a display that will do their side credit.
Jordan may not see it happening but those inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will know how crucial a result on Thursday could be.
